Thank you, Terry. I also have to ask, is it really a question of 'tone' or 'pitch' or is his sound just not commercially pretty enough for a lot of folks?
If wejhead8 understood the influence Dylan had in those changin' times he would understand the significance of Dylan singing his own songs instead of farming them out to a technically better vocalist.
Maybe I blinked and missed it, but I see no mention of perhaps Dylan's biggest influence on his vocal style and his freewheelin'-Guthrie-worship and, therefore, the bigger part of his style, image and philosophy ----- namely, The Original New York Jewish Cowboy, RAMBLI'N' JACK ELLIOT. Google him if you have to...but DON'T overlook him.

I always assumed Bob Dylan had a rich dad. because nobody would spend the kind of money it would take to make Dylan a singing sensation he became. Anybody who thinks he is a great singer is tone deff, like many rock and roll enthusiasts. To be compared to Mozart is like comparing hamberger to filet mignon. Burt Bacharach was a great song writer, but he didn't ever sing any of his great pieces. He knew he wasn't a singer. Bob Dylan should have figured this out too!
Well said Kvons, I am still bummed out about losing Levon. I hope I will get to see Dylan again.. I saw him last year and he was great . It was the fourth time I have seen him and it was the best yet.
@johnmargie6 Dylan lived in Woodstock, the writer isn't saying he played at the concert of the same name. It is the location of the house referenced as Big Pink
hey confederate grey..ever heard...two horses stood trooting they pranced and they ran each one was commanded by a calvery man, two horses stood grazin' where there dead riders lay..a union mare, a confederate grey...

After Jerry Garcia passed, Dylan paid his respects, and crying stated ... he was there for me when no one else was. Anyone who doesn't appreciate Bob Dylan just doesn't know the extent of his contribution. As Dylan himself said: These people, they think they know me. They don't know me. Thank you, Bobby.
while in woodstock Garth gave my sister in law a upright that was in a house in bearsville that he said janis owned before she dieed. just some real nice down to earth people love the band and saw dylen three times in austin Classic to the Bone,.. Thor on Congas
I never get enough of Dylan and I never get enough of The Band. Levon Helm's voice just gets down in my soul, I love hearing him sing. One of the best birthday presents I ever had was watching The Last Waltz...
Love the Band; great music. Their music defies categories--it sounds like it's existed forever; the music wasn't composed, it simply IS. Wonderful group, and true American originals. No one can take their place.

The Band is one of my all time favorites. Their music has so many layers. Its some of the finest rock music ever created.
I am not the same person that I was when I was 14 and first discovered Dylan. Neither is he... as it should be.I have carried him and he has carried me, all the way to the brink of old age, and I couldn't imagine making that journey without his music. He changed music and society and he also changed me. I know I am not alone in this respect. Wail on Bob!
Truly is the greatest songwriter of all time. Love ya Bob. Peace

By the way,I did get hired by the same guy not very long after and started my career as a disc jockey in Radio broadcasting . Got to see Dylan in person a few times and he is an undeniable musical genius that transcends categories even creates a few new ones

Bob Dylan helped me get into Broadcast Radio back in 1965. I had just picked up my copy of Highway 61 Revisited the day it was released. And after I went home and listened to the whole album I called the D.J. I talked to all the time at my fave station and told him I bought it. He said No s**t man I haven't got it yet Do you think You could bring it down?I was there in no time and spent the next few hours in the Control room while he played the entire album for Phx. Thanks Bob, Thanks Ray
