Bad Company

Formed in 1973, the British hard rock outfit Bad Company was a supergroup comprised of ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell, former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, and singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both previous members of Free. Powered by Rodgers' muscular vocals and Ralphs' blues-based guitar work, Bad Company was the first group signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song vanity label. Bad Company's eponymous 1974 debut was an international hit, topping the U.S. album charts and scoring with the number one single "Can't Get Enough of Your Love."

Straight Shooter, issued the following year, was another major success, notching the hit "Feel Like Makin' Love," while 1976's Run With the Pack was Bad Company's third consecutive million-selling record. After 1977's Burnin' Sky, Bad Company recorded 1979's Desolation Angels, which embellished the group's sound with synthesizers and strings; a three-year hiatus followed before the release of Rough Diamonds, the group's final LP in its original incarnation.

In 1986, Ralphs and Kirke resurrected the Bad Company name, enlisting former Ted Nugent vocalist Brian Howe to replace Rodgers. The reconfigured unit's debut, Fame & Fortune, was a commercial failure, but 1988's Dangerous Age became a minor hit. Released in 1990, Holy Water fared even better, as the power ballad "If You Needed Somebody" became a Top 20 success. Here Comes Trouble, issued in 1992, achieved platinum status, and earned another Top 40 hit with "How About That." On their 20th anniversary, Bad Company expanded into a quintet with the addition of bassist Rick Wills and rhythm guitarist Dave Colwell, and released the live retrospective The Best of Bad Company Live...What You Hear Is What You Get.

Two more LPs -- 1995's The Company of Strangers and the next year's Stories Told and Untold -- followed, and in 1998 the original lineup of Rodgers, Ralphs, Kirke, and Burrell reunited to record a handful of new tracks that surfaced alongside past material early the following year on The Original Bad Company Anthology. A reunion tour followed that spring. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

I watched the Behind the Music: Remastered episode on Bad Co. the other week on VH1 Classic, very good. I would recommend it.
This song...proof of a God!
Paul Rodgers has such a dinsinct voice that defines the band, when they replaced him, they should have just changed the name, because they just weren't THE Bad Company.

Paul Rodgers has one of the signature voices in rock music.
Free ..rocked Paul Kossoff had a great tone...I think Mick Ralphs was playing Paul's tone....espe c i a l l y on shooting star..which I'm pretty sure was written for Paul....whom if I'm not mistaken was with Bad Co. when fist formed..Rodg e r s , Kirk, & Kossoff....w i t h bassist..Bur r e l l . . . . d i d a few gigs but Kossoff was problematic. . . m i s s e d a couple of shows..or just couldn't go on....in no condition to go on......
played with Kossoff & Kirk...in early 70 ...great guys..lots of fun..and great players...
Mark Hoover is a flaming a** pounder. Who can't spell worth a f u c k. Hey if you space it out a bit you can get away with typing the eff word. LOL

Love the stripped down version of Ready for Love. I never loved these guys live but Paul Rodgers has maintained his powerful voice. Because they were never about gimmicks and flash, their music has aged well. Still pretty releveant to a teen today. Great musicians and Im glad I still have the vinyl.

to Pandora, why is Paul Rodgers not singing SHOOTING STAR????? such a great song, anyone with half a voice is still singing a great rock-n-roll song. and thats what this guy has, half of PR's voice....... . . . . . . . . .
to the person who asked about where to find the fame and fortune album it's available on emusic.com if you still haven't found it.
On of my favorite groups! I STILL listen to their music.
Bad Co. had a SERIOUS influence on my musical tastes to this day. We all dug them in 78-81 while I was in High School. He can still sing well too! Chris Cornell (Soundgarden , Audioslave) could never perform live like Paul Rogers even though he was compared to him once in an article I read. They even went so far as to call Chris Cornell the most soulful singer in R&R. I think he is great in the studio, but never heard him sing well live.
Saw them in concert back in the 70's in Portland Oregon.
Bad Company. That's a good photo of Paul Rodgers in the Bios. I LOOOOOVE BAD COMPANY!!!!! ! THIS is the Rock and Roll I grew up on. Along with Stevie Nicks, Heart, Tom Petty. etc. But, my Mom used to listen to Bad Company all the time.
What can you say about this great band. Paul has such a strong voice. Taylor made for rock blues. Saw the original Bad Company live. Stellar. Also saw Paul live with Howard Leese on guitar. Also stellar.
Paul Rodgers can do (or sing) no wrong! Love him!
jamesreicorp
Hot monkey love. LOL.

I made hot monkey love to many many many GFs while playing Bad Co tune-age. I miss you 80's!!!!!!
The first time I heard this song, the band Five Finger Death Punch did it...it was on the radio and it was decent, I think. Does anybody else like that version of Bad Company (the song)?
When I saw BAD COMPANY in Portland, Oregon I purchased a pair of underwear that said ready for love. Best concert I ever saw!!!
cthy_brry
