Despite scoring a massive MTV hit with their very first single, "Turn Up the Radio," Autograph quickly got lost in the shuffle of the thriving L.A. pop-metal scene. Formed in the early '80s by vocalist/guitarist Steve Plunkett, guitarist Steve Lynch, bassist Randy Rand, keyboard player Steven Isham, and drummer Keni Richards, the band seemed to have it all: a fine commercial hard rock debut in 1984's Sign in Please, good looks, great hair, and even a cartoonish drummer (half jock, half animal). Still, it wasn't enough, and by the time they released the following year's disappointing This Is the Stuff, Autograph's 15 minutes were pretty much up. 1987's Loud and Clear showed improvement, but arrived too late to save the band, which split up soon after. A posthumous collection of outtakes called Missing Pieces was released a decade later. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

Autograph's single, Turn Up The Radio, dominantly dunks on 99% of the singles (not to mention albums) released by said band's contemporaries in the 80's.
Find yourself a late-model 911 Turbo, power the Blaupunkt and play your MP3 of Turn Up The Radio while laying 5 car-lengths worth of rubber en route to a conservative, 300km-per-hour highway speed run. ...It is good.
love the 80's and love the band...the party you don't want to leave!!

When a deeper cut from 'Sign In Please' (Night Teen & Non-Stop) came up, I thought it sounded familiar. Not as imediately recognizable as 'Turn Up The Radio', but a good throwback to 26 (damn) years ago.

Autograph's Turn Up The Radio is a heavy metal classic.
Well, i wonder how much 15 min. of fame is worth????...probably alot in the music world....that wonderful word.."Royalties". I'm sure that song will be played over & over forever. The song is so true.
This brings back memories of crankin' up the video on MTV and gettin' yelled at by my mom. Which led to their other song's quote "If the music's too loud, then you're too old!" LOL
Man, the rest of these guys songs are pretty good. It would've been awesome if these guys had made it a bit more. TURN UP THE RADIO was one of the best 80s songs created.
These guys were more fun and friendly than many other bands I saw during the 80's arena scene. Great to watch, tons of energy, and well, just fun. I hear the keyboardist was from my neck of the woods, instant bonus points. Turn it up!
