I was in college (not middle school/9th grade). This seriously didn't sound anything else back then either. And my profile pic should let you know that it got picked up by a lot of people who weren't anywhere near hip-hop.
This is my absolute favorite song. And Pandora knows it. Thanks for playing it exactly when I want to hear it! Every time this song comes on, I jump out of my seat, and dance the heck out in my slippers.
Hip Hop use to be big enough for LL,Cube,Scarface,Too Short,Salt 'n Pepa, Heavy D,Digital Underground,BDP,PE,X-Clan,Tribe,Arrested Development,FreshPrince and Hammer. So it should be big enough for Lil Wayne,Gucci Mane,Souljaboy, Black Eye Peas,Common, and artist like Dead President to get the same radio play, video play, and magazine coverage. Being different makes the world go round. Nuff said I'm off my soap box by the way this is one of my fav Hip Hop songs of all time!Cassette(lol)was dope too!

I don't blame the artist. They are putting out what the record company, radio and video stations push. If the music good and had a different subject matter and had some real lyrics the audience of today would listen to it but for some reason the socalled experts of the music industry don't think so. As much as I like Cube,Dre,Snoop,Too Short, andNWA,of the so-called Gansta Rap genre they hurt hip hop because what you hear is now is influenced by them and the PE,ARRESTED DEV,DELASOUL,sound is dead

I promised myself when I was younger(back in the 90's) when I got older I wouldn't be one of those old people who put down the current generations music and I try not to but the sh** that is called Hip Hop today can't touch this kinda of Hip Hop. Mc's have alwasy bragged about jewelry, cars, the baddest women, and how hard they were it always had that element. But the difference is you had this to counter balance it. Now it is all the same. I don't dislike everything but it lacks creative.
Man, hearing this make me understand why folks say Hip Hop music is/was dead. There aren't really any more songs like this, and if someone attempts to make something like this it comes off super corny or pretentious.
