Funny, Terry. Most indi/folk fans, regardless of age, are well aware of the grand dames of the singer-songwriter era. She is also a bit vocally similar to Dar Williams.
I loved the one song I heard from her today she did sound a bit like Ani but nonetheless the lyrics were great and the music itself was quite catchy !!!! I'll be listening to more of her
YAY !!!!!!! I am so very glad I was able to help you find the song you were looking for. I know how frustrating it is when I can't find a song I heard, even when there is no emotional attachment to it. So it must be doubly so when it stirs such deep feeling and memories.
I have noticed that Pandora sometimes mislabels what albums songs come from. This seems to happen a lot with live versions, verses studio versions. It seems this is the case with this song.

Hi Nicole.... It IS definitely at the end of Diana's song, and thanks to ANTJE DUVEKOT HER SELF......I found out the beautiful lullaby is on" Little Peppermints" not " Snapshots". I have purchased "Boys, flowers, miles" and "little Peppermints" off of amazon ...... boys flowers miles will not download onto my computer but little peppermints did. Now, I'm searching for a mp3 version of "boys, flowers, miles" to down load. ALL ARE FANTASTIC! I am telling everyone I know to listen to her music.

Oxbow ... it is definitely at the end of Diane's song .. I just heard it again on Pandora.

Nicole, you have given me huge direction.......(not sure how I'm marked "private") but I am so very thankful for your direction and today, I am off to buy the CD....... I'll come back to let you know when I finally hear the lullaby once again!

Hi oxbow. Your profile is marked private, so I can't leave you a message there. I am not a hundred percent sure that that is the song you are looking for is at the end of Diane's Song. I don't own the album so I have only heard it on Pandora. It is possible that you have to buy the actual CD to get it. I do remember that it is at the end of a song done on a radio program .. the announcer says something about keeping it and she laughs and says not to.

hello Nicole, YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!! upon hearing hush little baby, I stopped what I was doing and was brought to tears. It was how I sang it to my little one who is now grown and o so far away. It was Antje Duvekots Diana's Song, but when I purchased it, Hush Little Baby was not at the end of the song. Any further help you can give is most appreciated. It was good to read your response.

Oxbow ... I think you have come to the right place . I think what you are looking for is at the end Diana's Song on Antje's Snapshot Album. There is a long pause at the end of the song then she sings Mockingbird . Hope you get this.

Has any one heard a female, softly spoken, vocal only, version of "hush Little Baby" or what is some times called "Mockingbird" I heard it while listening to pandora on my "Ani Difranco" station! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN

She sure isnt ANI But I sure do love her any way! :) But ANI will always be #1!
Just because Antje and Ani are both folk doesn't mean they sound the same, or Antje is "trying to be Ani." If you want that argument, you would have to say that Ani DiFracno sounds like Mary from Peter Paul and Mary! I just heard Antje for the first time and LOVE her. Can't wait to hear more.:-)
I heard the song from afar and came to the computer to verify that it was Ani. Her manner of strumming and her lyrical phrasings are eerily like Ani.

Beautiful!

Antje has a beautiful, soulful voice and an authenticity unusual in this business. Saw her last weekend in a tiny venue in the Bronx. Really! I told her I would like her to be my daughter-in-law but she graciously laughed and said she had a boyfriend. I bought her new CD and am enjoying it daily.

She does remind me of Ani, but I don't mind it because she sounds lovely and like she has potential. Want to hear more.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad to see Antje on here! I've known her since the early 90s and seriously, she's not trying to be ani difranco. She has always sounded the way she does now, and her songs have always expressed deep and complex emotions in an intelligent way that is also soothing to listen to. I still remember her singing "fast car" to us at night in the woods whenever i hear tracy chapman sing anything. antje is good stuff. :)
I first saw her at the Iron Horse when she opened for Ellis Paul. It was a great show. I saw her agian at Caffe Lena where she was feeling under the weather. I still enjoyed the music. Try her live if you can.

Big Dream Boulevard was produced by Séamus Egan of the Irish-American band Solas. Solas has previously recorded five of Duvekot's songs: "Black Annis," "The Poisonjesters Mask," "Erin," "Reasonland," and "Merry Go Round." "I think it’s fair to say that over all I turn to music in times of trouble and need as a therapeutic tool to get me through sadness," said Duvekot in an interview. "That’s why I tend to turn to music. So my songs tend to be a little darker, because that’s where I tend to go
recorded a number of songs on a borrowed 4-Track tape machine, and released a self-produce d full-length cassette entitled Waterstains" which she sold at gigs in and around Wilmington, Delaware, where she was enrolled in school. In 2000, her song “Soma” won the grand prize in the rock category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Duvekot often tours with Ellis Paul, who sings on her first studio album, Big Dream Boulevard.
From Wikipedia: Antje's Biography Duvekot moved to Delaware at the age of 13, when her mother remarried. Duvekot writes songs that are often dark and personal, and she frequently records and performs with little accompaniment besides her acoustic guitar. She began recording music on her own at the age of 16, producing limited-edition cassette tapes for her friends. At 18 she won the first open mic competition she entered, at the Sam Adams Brewpub in Philadelphia. Within a year, she had
First heard Antje @ the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, OK. She had been touring w/ Ellis Paul & it was through his influence that she came---what a blessing the universe gave us that day!! She also sang w/ Ellis (or he sang w/ her) & they had such fun that it was fun for the audience. If you get a chance catch a performance. She's great; i like Big Dream Boulevard a little more than Little Peppermints--the rhymes are more developed.

I was fortunate to see Antje live in Oak Ridge, TN. Just her and her guitar....and she was fabulous! Cute as a bug, talented beyond belief and kept everyone entertained with her beautiful music and cute stories.
It was my first introduction to folk music and have been an avid fan since. Thanks Antje for sharing your talent and opening up new doors for me personally!

What an Ironic, backwards statement.
