Bronx native Angela Bofill sang with Ricardo Morrero & the Group and the Dance Theater of Harlem chorus before her 1978 debut. With her strong, distinctive alto, she has carved a niche as an outstanding interpreter of soul ballads. Between 1978 and 1984, Bofill had consistent success on the R&B charts, with six albums making the Top 40 (five of which made the Top 100 on the pop charts as well), including two, Angel of the Night (1979) and Too Tough (1983), that made the Top Ten. During this period, she also placed seven singles in the R&B Top 40, with "Too Tough" making the Top Ten. Bofill's career cooled off after 1984, but she returned to the R&B charts with Intuition (1988), I Wanna Love Somebody (1993), and Love in Slow Motion (1996). ~ Bil Carpenter, Rovi
They just replayed the unsung doc on her last night. Lord she had a voice. I will keep her in my prayers. With Gods help her voice may come back. We can only pray.
Angela your voice is beautiful for holding a man you love.

I first ordered her album in 78 and saw her live in Denver in the early 80's... her albums were the only ones I never sold even when times were hard! :) Still love her music and have saved it over the years!
LOVE Angela ... and with Phyllis now gone, I cherish Angela even more. I also have been carting around her VINYL albums for the past 30 yrs...and I'm not letting them go either. :)

An amazing singer song writer- I can't believe Itried was written when she was just 17 years old...Amazing.
Why are there only two or three of her songs available on the play list? I am enjoying them but there are so many other songs to play. Would love to hear more from this artist!

I did not watch unsung but I am now discussing Angela with my co-worker who enjoyed the documentary about her life. I too remember all of the beautiful music she made and was blessed to see her in concert many times. What a voice!!!!! We will continue to miss her for years to come. Her legacy lives.....
I watched an Unsung Documentary on Angela last night, and was bought to tears when I discovered that she had not one , but 2 strokes , which left her disabled. As a young girl growing up in the Bronx myself, I remember my mom played her music all the time, Angela's words never left me....., Her music has been a constant in my life........
I remember who I fell hopelessly in love with while she was singing; it was the era of Angela and Cris. I'll never forget either. Every time I hear her voice it takes me back and I feel those feelings all over again. God bless you Angela during this difficult time; my prayers and well wishes are with you. Like Luther, a lot of babies were probably made while listening to your beautiful love songs.

What a beautiful, silky yet strong voice! I've missed listening to Angela Bofill. Her voice brings me back to wonderful and fun memories...I'm glad I had the chance to see her in concert...I've missed your music ;)))
I met Ms. Bofill in Washington, DC at the Blue Note and she is just as nice as her music and beautiful voice. She also had her daughter with her and she is such a loving parent. Her music and her voice is always with me. During one of the toughest times in my life, her music helped pull me through. Surely, a true artist. She is one of my favorite artist and I wished her music was still around more often.
