Smooth jazz saxophonist André Ward was born and raised in Chicago. His first instrument, which he took up at age eight, was the snare drum. He later moved to trumpet and tenor saxophone before settling on alto saxophone and becoming sufficiently proficient to earn a music-performing scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Based in Boston, he played internationally and did session work for such artists as Freddie Jackson. He was signed to Orpheus Music and released his debut solo album, Feelin' You, in October 2001. It reached number four on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and also appeared on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His second album, Steppin' Up, released in March 2004, was similarly successful. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
So amazingly soothing, stress relieving. it's like that prop that you forget is there.................until it's gone. Rhythmic, soulful, sultry, with an urban flair, Chicago style! So young, yet so extremely talented. Shows the seriousness of his craft. Would love to see him in concert!!!
I'm proud of Andre. I knew he would do great things. May God continue to bless you and your family. Keep up the good work Nupe. Much love my number, Smitty.
I saw Andre perform many times while he was attending Berklee. He was the regular performer at the Gallery on Mass Ave. in Boston and I knew he would blow up!!! He was always GREAT and I expected nothing but the best from him. I was a dedicated fan back then and have been for over 20 yrs... Much luv and success to you my friend.... Carnnie
Andre's music totally reminds me of the great family Sunday dinners that mom would prepare for us all to sit down to consume a wonderful nourishiing meal, how she and dad would play their Jazz, both talking to us 4 kids during family time, Mom & Dad both are home now with the Almighty GOD, Mom, Dad I miss you both. thank you both for all the family times, your sacrifices for us, and being a great family due to you both.!!!!

My first great experience I had of hearing you was streaming from on line at Pandora. It would be an even greater one if I were to see and hear you perform live!! Like quite a few of cities, we just lost our Jazz radio station, it was the first in our area. We attended jazz concerts all the time sponsored by the radio station. Now we are left high and dry! Come and visit our city and let the folks get a real treat! Harrisburg PA is where I make my home! ( bmahogany10@verizon.net )
