Growing up between Washington, D.C., and a farm in Georgia, Alice Smith spent much of her time listening to and singing many different genres of music, but it wasn't until her college years that she actually began to consider the possibility that her voice could be her career. Singing backup for a band at Fordham University, Smith was in the studio one day when the manager (and head of BBE Records in the U.S.) heard them perform. A record deal followed shortly and Smith released her impressive debut, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, a mix of rock, soul, and R&B, in 2006. The same year, she appeared on "Haunted by Her Yesterdays," an atmospheric track by drum'n'bass producer Logistics. I used to like this artist and album. I'm glad to hear that she'll have something new out. I didn't even know she was married to Citizen Cope.

Saw her perform about an hour or two ago in Brooklyn. AMAZING, WONDERFUL, WOW!!!!!! She told me her new album will be out either Feb or Mar 2013...can't wait:-)
Bonafide is the old deal, Fake is the new real. I enjoy her and her husbands music. In fact i just saw her (perform) and him, Citizen Cope (was in attendance) last night at the Howard Theater in DC. Love the both of you!!!
shamefully, i just discovered this lady. as much as i love this type of music--radio alternative--i really dont seek it out enough, so i always dig back in the crates for the old stuff...jill scott, erykah badu, d'angelo, and even amel larrieux lol. i must keep my ear to the street a little better than i have.
I saw her in February of 2008 at The Mercury Lounge in New York City. She was fabulous and looked awesome! She pretty much did all of the songs on her album and two covers. Where has Alice gone? She really is awesome on CD and live....

Alice, Alice, where are you now? Why have you and those velvet pipes been so silent for so long?! I love Erica Badu, Jill Scott, Joss Stone, Adele, Amy W and Corrine BR, but you rank right up there with them. Please put out something new, you could be big and your fans are starving.
She's in incredible, if you get a chance to see her live. I suggest you run don't walk to get tickets. I've had the pleasure a few times and was NEVER disappointed.

i love this woman!! she's beautiful and her voice takes me to all kinds've places. she's been around awhile, not sure why she's not hot on the map. Usually the most precious gems are hidden and protected from thieves.....xo Rubi . .

I actually heard of her as suggested on amazon.com but was very excited when a heard her here in the mix on Pandora. Don't know how she got swept under the rug to the rest of the world but you can't help to groove to her voice. I actually like her entire cd and I bet she is great to hear live.
this song is fantastic, she is awsome , i found out about her because of pandora :P so happy i did she pours her feelings into her words and hows she expresses herself its just so inspiring!!! ! !

I've seen Alice Smith perform live in concert and I have to say she is fabulous! Got to see her with Citizen Cope (her man) perform in Asheville, NC. Her voice is absolutely fantastic and I think more people should know about her!
Ever since I saw her on Ellen, I have been looking for her,this song. She's different, and I love that about her. She's classy in her style of dress & pretty. I would love for her to wear one of my dresses. She seems to be the down home kind of girl,after reading a few statements from her I think she is very cool. Let's keep her around.
