Alessandro Marcello (1669-1747) was an Italian composer of the Baroque era, now mostly remembered for the Adagio from his Oboe Concerto in D minor. His reputation rests on only a few compositions, sometimes attributed to his brother, Benedetto Marcello, and his biography is primarily focused on his position as a Venetian nobleman. Marcello collected musical instruments, many of which are held in the National Museum of Musical Instruments in Rome, and he participated in numerous other cultural projects.
