Muscle Shoals-inspired, Athens, Alabama-based quartet Alabama Shakes formed in 2009 around the talents of Brittany Howard, Zac Cockrell, Steve Johnson, and Heath Fogg. Originally simply called the Shakes, the bands not-so-subtle blend of fiery blues-rock and hard-hitting Southern soul has drawn comparisons to the Black Keys, the Drive-By Truckers, the Detroit Cobras, and even Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. The band released an eponymous debut EP in September 2011, with plans to record a full-length album later in the year. 2012's Boys & Girls was produced and mixed by the band at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville. ~ James Christopher Monger., Rovi

This freaked me out This isn't fake. Apparently, if you copy and paste this on ten comments in the next ten minutes, you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You will either get kissed or asked out, if you break this chain you will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. In the next 53 minutes someone will say I love you or I'm sorry This freaked me out This isn't fake.
Keep rockin out Shakes!!! I saw them for the first time ever at crossroads music hall in huntsville and knew it was a matter of time before they blew up!!
Hands down the best live show I've ever witnessed in person. It was at the Ogden Theater in Denver. Granted, I was 5 feet from the stage but it didn't matter. Brittany had the whole place captivated! Magic. Thank you Alabama Shakes for that memory. Brittany, I don't even know how someone can have that much talent and soul but keep going girl!

These guys put on one of the best live shows I have seen in recent years. Brittany Howard is already a living legend, mature beyond her years.....the amount of energy she put out, left me exhausted, stunned and amazed. Life changing music, just the way I like it!

This is my new favorite band. Such beautiful music to phase out all the other mainstream crap that's been coming out.
I can't even... Amazing. I'd never heard of them until the Grammys. To be honest, that is sad. This band is so soulful and rich. I need to see them live. Favorite band to date. Hands down. =)
Ya baby - seen the Shakes on the American Blue Grass and Folk Festival play at the Ryman -man oh man - check them out on Austin CityLimits with Gary Clark - whoa
