A typical product of the mid-2000s metallic deathcore movement, Montreal, Canada's the Agonist are composed of vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, guitarist Danny Marino, bassist Chris Kells, and drummer Simon McKay. Formed in early 2007, the quartet originally went by the name of the Tempest, but quickly made the switch while recording its debut album, Once Only Imagined, for release through Century Media. The label then sent them out on tour with labelmates God Forbid and operatic power metallers Epica. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
My apologies for the previous comment, I thought I was commenting on a song. Carrying on, this band is anything but typical, Alissa is my first and biggest celebrity crush, with beautiful clean vocals and spine chilling screams. The rest of the band is fantastic. All in all, a stunning band.
I really like the Lullabies album, but I'd enjoy it even more if the singing to screaming ratio was 75/25 instead of the other way around. Great vocals either way though.
My goddess!! Alissa seriously has some wicked vocals. Shes one of the most talented metal vocalists i have heard in a long a** time. This band is just amazing. I love every one of their songs and albums. \M/(><)\M/
wow, shes sexy, has powerful vocals AND sounds good, not to mention, the sound is practically flawless from what ive heard so far. i like the agonist, ALOT!
This music is... AMAZING! I wish I could marry mother nature, but she is my mother... Damn. Anyway. This is my favorite band. I can't wait for thier next album!!!!
I'm with Arbryn. This band is awesome, now please add Lullabies For The Dormant Mind already. It's been out since 2009, and we're getting close to 2011. C'mon
I think that chick singers are even more badass than guy singers. She's (alissa white-gluz) much more talented than a lot of the other singers out there.
Their second album is a masterpiece. Astonishingly missing from the collection here on Pandora and hardly "typical" deathcore with so much variety in their music.
I actually prefered "And Their Eulogies Sang Me To Sleep" seemed to have more black metal influence and musicianship than the one-note breakdowns that "Business Suits..." is riddled with.
Business Suits and Combat Boots is THE SONG to listen to by them. Also I damn near creamed myself when I seen them in concert and she could do both scream and sing all night. Not only that but they kept rocking hard all night!

Alissa is fcking gorgeous. And so are the boys. Great singer and screamer. Great blend of many types of metal (metalcore/power/progressive/melodic/etc).
Rather more listenable and dynamic than your average 'core band. I'll give em' one thumb up and one tentative thumb wobbling on its side, due songs being destroyed mid-way through with repetitive, palm-muted single-note "break downs".
All metalcore bands should have female lead vocalists.
