Agalloch

The origins of Agalloch date back to 1995 and the disintegration of the band Aeolachrymae. As that group died, three phoenixes emerged from the ashes, Sussurrus Inanis, Nothing, and Agalloch. Mixing black metal with atmospheric textures, gothic doom, and neo-folk and post-rock touches, the Portland, OR-based group quickly developed a rabid cult following. Their first demo, From Which of This Oak, was recorded in 1996; in 1998, they recorded another demo and shopped it around to labels. Their efforts paid off as the group landed a deal with The End Records. The following year the guys -- vocalist/guitarist John Haughm, bassist Jason William Walton, guitarist John Anderson, and keyboardist Shane Breyer -- released their experimental and brooding debut, Pale Folklore. The EP Of Stone, Wind and Pillor appeared in 2001 before Agalloch's critically acclaimed sophomore effort, The Mantle, hit stores in 2002. Four years passed before the band released their next full-length, Ashes Against the Grain, again to high critical and fan praise. ~ Gary Hill, Rovi

My Agalloch station does not disappoint.

Word of advice: if you try to make an Agalloch station expecting music like Agalloch, you will come out disappointed .
I just love this band. Would love to see them in concert.I heard them on Princeton University free form radio about 10 years ago and went on to buy Pale Folklore and all there albums. I think they are so original and just awesome. I am in my late fifties and I don't listen to classic rock. My joy comes from finding bands like Agalloch and Opeth and knowing that fantastic music still exists contrary to most of my generation who think music stopped in the seventies.I need to go to their website mo
seen this band 3 times live...f**ki n g amazing!!!
Such beautiful sounds, outstanding job from this American quartet!
wnxnokturnal
My number 1. Amazing live too.

Great band
Bloodbirds I and II (especially II) make for 10 of the absolute best minutes of music ever made imo. Their entire catalogue is phenomenal.

One of a kind metal awesome.
This is my all time favorite band. They have originality, true creativity, real talent, and stay true to their fans. All of which is lacking in today's metal scene.
These guys are amazing. Definitely one of my favorite bands of all time.
They need to Update this. Bad.
Kick-f**king - a * * ! WOW!
Music is well conceived but sloppy as hell. How can you leave the studio with bad timing and meter?
Was surprised to see this was an American metal band. Buy all their CD's instantly! They are superb!
This band just hit #3 on my favorite bands, behind In Flames and Amon Amarth
This...is... a w e s o m e . . . . . .
adamevans13
One of my favorite all time bands. Don't be afraid to buy one of their CDs, you won't regret it. I've listened to my copy of the Mantle hundreds of times.
Mountains... a m i r i t e
great atmospheric BM band from my home state of Oregon, although they are from Portland not my hometown of Eugene. Also awesome atmospheric BM from the pacific northwest is Olympia Washington's Wolves In The Throne Room (WITTR for short).
Europe just thinks it's got all the talent
turns out the US has the best bands still
Wow hadn't even heard of them, blew me away. Great band
Are they really from the US?
They are the sweetest metal band eva!
Not a big fan of black metal but Agalloch is fan-f**king- t a s t i c . Their albums have an ebb and flow that is unlike anything I've heard before. Beautiful, haunting yet aggressive and heavy - every song evokes a different reaction for the listener. F**king superb band
sbholl84
One of the best metal bands in the world.

glad to see so many people getting into agalloch, the music they create just sends chills up my spine
Every single release Agalloch puts out is a masterpiece. I especially love The White EP. Marrow of the Spirit is definitely in the top 5 releases of 2010 for me.
Thank you Pandora/Opet h . . .

I would never have heard about these guys if it weren't for Pandora. They came up on my Opeth station. But sometimes this site pisses me off. I get bands like Isis and Pantera on the same station. WTF?
