Hailing from the Twin Cities region of Minnesota, progressive metalcore band After the Burial formed in 2004. Originally consisting of guitarists Trent Hafdahl and Justin Lowe, bassist Lerichard Foral, drummer Dan Carle, and vocalist Nick Wellner, After the Burial created a sound that pushed the boundaries of heaviness through the use of extended-scale guitar work and progressive math-metal technical playing. The group self-released its first EP, Forging a Future Self, in 2006, and began touring heavily in support of the album. The following year, Wellner decided to leave the band after coming to the conclusion that the touring life wasnt for him. He was replaced by Grant Luoma, and in 2008 the band signed to Sumerian Records and released its first full-length, Rareform. Personality clashes within the band led to Luoma and After the Burial parting ways later that year, with Anthony Notarmaso joining as Luoma's replacement. In 2009, the group released a re-recorded version of Rareform featuring Notarmasos vocals and live drums while the band got acclimated to the new singer. After dealing with busy touring schedules and member changes, After the Burial finally settled down to write new material, and in 2010 released their first album of new material in two years, In Dreams. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
they literally sound on the cd as they do live, saw them in NY a year or two with For Today, Whitechapel, Impending Doom and I Declare War and they honestly killed the set and open with Aspirations! first time i heard ever heard those guys and now i consider them in my top favorites
danesyoutube -but if u listen to anthony vocals live, they sound exactly like they do one the cd, anthony is a super talented screamer, he doesn't hold back a he screams full voice insted of oli sykes from bring me the horizon, i personally thing anthony's screams are fine, it fits with the djent style, an tech style they r going for, their old vocalist was the worst, he could hold a scream at all! i've been follow ing ATB threw their ep to in dreams i know alot about them Trent is a really good
The Re-Issue really pisses me off. The drums are better and actually real. and the guitars are just fine, but the new vocalist's voice does not belong or fit on this material at all. He's good on In Dreams, but that re-issue really pisses me off
Actually the original drummer's name was Greg Erikson sp?, but anyway, just thought i'd give credit where it was due, Dan wasn't added to the lineup until 07
I'm definitely a fan of the original Rareform production. It's nothing against Anthony's vocals, just the actual production itself wasn't as good. They definitely need to get In Dreams and the EP up on here. Pi and To Carry You Away would be an amazing addition to my listening pleasures.

They use 8 string guitars lol
But yeah these guys are amazing. Don't like their new album at all though.

Saw them live with AILD and winds of plague, it was amazing they had really sweet bright green and orange guitars, really sweet riffing. Melted my face!
Listen to their other songs.. They are a better example of how beastly their guitarists are... I saw them live and they were flawless... better then the actual recording
Not really impressed by these guys, but their drummer is awesome...maybe it's just the way his drums are tracked and leveled, but damn it sounds good...
Oh My, I Love These Guys. Pure Amazingness. I think Rareform and Forging a Future Self were my two favorite albums. Cant wait till they come to my hometown! Totally getting tickets.(:
Same here saw AILD, After the Burial, and Winds of plague. Siiiiick. made me fall back in love with seven strings. But AILD was the best. And got to meet nick hippa. boss
saw these guys last night, they are f@#$ing amazeing, theyre better live than in albums,my neck is screaming from headbangin and im pretty sure someone crushed my kidney in the mosh
Yeah born of Osiris is insane. The technicality of their music is mind blowing. I went to see one of my other favorite bands, For Today, and these guys were headlining the show. I listened to them for like two seconds and left because I didn't like them. This was before I knew anything about them, and was one of the biggest mistakes of my life haha.

Pandora definitely needs to play their older music. Their music SPEAKS to me like no other, they were AMAZING live (with born of osiris and all shall perish - kickass show) - I was pretty much in a trance during ATB's set. Amazing tone and musicianship and songwriting in this band. I hope they come out with a new album soon. If you like these guys check out Born of Osiris - they will blow you away too...
