Abney Park

Abney Park originally began in the early '90s with founder Robert Brown attending the University of London only to drop out, indulge himself in the underground electronic music scene and eventually relocate to Seattle during the peak of the grunge explosion. Brown stuck out of the city's music scene of flannels and monthly showers to form the dark electronica of October 27th and the EaTen. With the latter of the two experiencing a slight lineup change, Abney Park resulted in 1997 while continuing on the brooding industrial trip-hop of his prior projects. A self-titled, self-released full-length would capture this sound by 1998. ~ Mike DaRonco, Rovi

Yeah it's a great plot try it sometime
You should read his book, its good.
Captain Robert mentioned on social media like a week back that he'd submitted the whole Abney Park catalog to Pandora, and he was expecting it to take about a month for them to post it. I can't wait. I wonder if that includes the old and new Christmas albums too.
I want steampunk not punk rock Pandora, come on
Saw them @ realms con in cc tx they put on a really good show both days.
I embrace steampunk and it is my life. The music that the Cap'n and his crew make is outstanding above all bands like them. Music is only a part of our world, though.
Abney park... Damnably good music. Ridiculously talented vocals. All in one band. Enough said

Went to a Steampunk Masquerade Ball in Dallas a couple weekends ago, and enjoyed it immensely. Marquis de Vaudeville and Steam Powered Giraffe played - both are wonderful bands! Also, check out on YouTube Voltaire and Rasputina. Great music.
Captain Robert, people. And this song has a great amateur his on YouTube. Steampunk Revolution is a phenomenal one if you want to peer into our Steampunk world.
Anyone hear steampunk revolution yet? Amazing song good lyrics. I love the sitar on this track. The crew is really getting the hang of it now. I think they started off a little rough on death of tragedy. Love the Cap'n
Great lyrics. Robert Browns voice is somewhere between Tom Waite and Whisper Jack Smith, always keeps you interested.
Nice plan. Tell 'em what for. I know that's what I'm gonna do. Stay shiny, all.
@austin.jone s 6 5 The Death of Tragedy is pre=steampun k . Like the new stuff, Pandora's just too gorram slow moving on getting Abney Park's stuff up, old and new alike. Keep bugging them, and maybe they'll get a clue?
Really? Well, this is mildly disappointin g . i was really hoping to see End Of Days here, but I kind of figured that the Digital Ones would mess it up somehow. Oh, well. Back to sailing the Aether the old fashion way, with CDs and all.
Where's the pre-steampun k stuff?
Still waiting for more of the newer albums to get added. There are two newer albums, with a third on its way later this year. There are also some older albums that are still amazing, even if the band's changed a lot since their release.
Am I the only one that found reading this bio for Abney Park a bit tedious? Sentence structure aside, it's just super hard to follow. And as for it being rude, I can't tell if it's so much rudeness or a soft grasp on the English language, that said I'd just be thrilled with a little proof reading now & again.
Sadly, rude bios seems to be the norm on Pandora. I've noticed this problem on A LOT of the artist bios I've read. I don't know if they just have an ego problem with the people responsible for the bios or what, but I don't hold my breath on better bios getting up. :(

Very happy Pandora introduced me to this group; just wish they had more of their albums available on here. That, and a nicer/less-r u d e bio that was more up to date with their steampunk information.
Also, with the holidays upon us... any chance of Dark Christmas getting some Pandora love?
Off The Grid arrived over the weekend, and OMFSM! So awesome. Yeah, I want that up on Pandora more than I want End of Days, no matter how awesome End of Days is. The Wrong Side with banjo? So delicious.
Thank you Pandora for getting Æther Shanties up! End of Days is next, I hope? But really hoping for the NEW album to show up here soon. I got notification that my pre-order was packaged as of yesterday. *dances* Can't wait to get it!
Oh hey, looks like they finally added AEther Shanties. Good! Now, if End of Days shows up, i'll be satisfied!
The new album was *just* released to pre-order, and the tracks I heard on the music broadcast during the IRC party were *amazing*. I hope that Pandora gets the new album on here in a timely manner.
Seconded. Plus, AEther Shanties is completely amazing.

+1 to the throng requesting an expanded discography. What Pandora has isn't even really representati v e of the band's style anymore. At least add AEther Shanties and End of Days.
ronjoi6
I will add my voice to the throng imploring Pandora to add the full discography of Abney Park to their line up. I have an Abney Park station not an Evanescence Station nothing against Evanescence but I want Abney Park
sesinnae5
seriously pandora. they have like 6 other albums at this point. where's aether shanties? where's my 'End of Days'. Where's 'Taxidermy', 'from dreams or angels', and 'Cemetery number one'. Get this discography up to date. there coming out with a new album this year to!
anelson534
Lost Horizons is their first album I got, but there are songs I love from every one of their albums.

Please Pandora, get the rest of their discography! The awesomeness of Abney Park needs to be shared with the world!
It's true, I have an "Abney Park" station; but Pandora can barely figure out I want to hear THEM!
Keep getting these craapy "punk rock" banks... Sound like bad sound tracks to 80s movies.
When I wanna hear the Band I love from Steam Con !!
That's an entirely too limited discography.
Pandora needs the rest of their albums.
just saw them in concert and wow was blown away with nothing really as to stage show they still kept the crowd and myself entralled for over two hours and we all had a blast!!!! love the sound and love the energy
I just picked up end of days... excellent album

I was lucky enough to see Abney Park live at Dragon*Con. Amazing performances by all, standing room only crowd, and this was only the afternoon show. Amazing vocals, charismatic members and unique instruments are only part of what combine to be an outstanding band with outstanding music. I'd never heard of steampunk prior to seeing them, I've become a major fan since. One of the best concerts I've been to, with no effects, lighting, etc. Just a band playing in the middle of a conference roo
I wish their newest 2 albums would be on here. Lost Horizons and The Death of Tragedy are really good but I believe their best work has been done on Aether Shanties and End of Days. Awesome band either way.

I find that "under the Radar" is a great song to put on repeat.
Amazing artist. Managed to see them live at SteamCon in '09. Easily the best concert I've ever been to in my entire life.

Recently discovered them. Love the sound, and "feel" of the music.
I saw them in SF, I heard about them a wile back and have been a die hard fan. I myself am a steamer and It dose the heart good to see them getting so popular!
devoted2merc u r y

I recently discovered them. I've known about steampunk because it's a literary sub-genre related to cyberpunk which I've latched on to from the beginning... I've noticed over the past decade that steampunk is in a lot of games. Look at the Final Fantasy games, for one.

Very cool how one art influences another. Extremely cool to hear music that's supposed to BE the music of a literary sub-genre.
I was introduced to this group while at a bellydance show. One of my favorite dance groups "The Rising Sun Tribe" danced a fan veil routine to airship pirates. I was hooked. Now I just cant get enough!
gfa71
a hot band with an amazing live show everyone should experience this one.
This is a really awesome band, I discovered them after I discovered steampunk. Still wish I could turn back time to where I was discovering my style and get into steampunk... ~doesn't want to be called a poser~
Love their music. I also like how I can find other artists like them.
celtic.sylve r w o l f
Love the imagery that comes with this band's music. GREAT stuff to drive to, but be warned... very dangerous - one's foot becomes quite leaden on the pedal! :)
This is the most AMAZING artist I have ever heard!
