You can just feel the pain seep from Trent's voice! I love music that makes me feel, even to these low depths. Ranks right up there with "Hurt" by NIN.

"A laid-back male vocal" is a really *wrong* call, as far as song characteristics go. The rest of the characterizations, sure, but the vocals are utterly sad, despairing, as the other commenters point out.
