Five Iron Frenzy were one of the seemingly thousands of ska-punk bands that dominated the post-grunge mainstream modern-rock scene of the late '90s. The group -- comprised of Reese Roper (vocals), Micah Ortega (guitar), Scott Kerr (guitar, backing vocals), Keith Hoerig (bass), Andrew Verdecchio (drums), Dannis Culp (trombone, backing vocals), Leanor "Jeff" Ortega (saxophone) and Nathanel "Brad" Dunham (trumpet) -- formed in Denver during the mid-'90s. After a few years of constant gigging, the band attracted a strong regional following and their 1996 debut album, Upbeats and Beatdowns, became a local hit. The record led to major label interest, and the band signed with the Warner subsidiary SaraBellum in 1997. SaraBellum reissued Upbeats & Beatdowns in the spring, paving the way for the November release of Our Newest Album Ever!, the band's second album. The live Proof That the Youth Are Revolting followed in 1999, and a year later Five Iron Frenzy returned with the studio album All the Hype That Money Can Buy. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
FIF is a Real inspiration to not only Christians but also to anyone who loves this type of music. Soooooo happy to hear they are releasing another album!!!
Its funny nobody says anything about ANY bands' lyrics except If they're christian. People are always gonna hate Christians I guess. Op ivy is awesome but you can't really compare these 2 bands. Op ivy is more towards punk and FIF is more toward ska. Ska-punk is a broad genre
Man, people gonna sing bout what's important to them. Since god is clearly that important to them you should be mature enough to be cool with that. Dwelsbacher
dwelsbacher, YOU'RE AN IDIOT! Good music is good music. Anti-religious music is good if it sounds good. Five Iron Frenzy is fun and sounds great. GO FIF.
Love, Love Love, this band! I also Love the Christian lyrics. It gives it a joyful aspect to their music. Never forget you roots man especially in god .

Religion seems like an oxymoron when it comes to skapunk. They don't mesh well. This band is talented but would be much better if they didn't sing about God damn Jesus Christ. I agree, that guy is stupid. You can't even compare Operation Ivy to them.
Decent-ish band. Definitely some musical talent that is kind of ruined by terrible religious lyrics. A few songs are fun to listen to but the guy who said Operation Ivy doesn't come close is a complete retard.
Five Iron Frenzy is the worst band of all time, far worse than Nickleback. In fact, I've heard that Five Iron's next album will be a tribute album to Nickleback.
some bands seem to speak their heart. other bands seem to speak what they think the consumer wants to hear. this band speaks their heart, and i love them for it!
Five Iron... the only good ska... a band that dared to say 'being a Christian band doesn't mean we have to suck.' Yaarg.

I really miss this band.

I have liked a lot of bands. I have loved a handful; but none as much as Five Iron.

I agree with many others... FIF was the greatest, and there is no band equal to them. Their sound is incomparable to any other band, and their lyrics are incredible. I wish they would do a reunion tour...
Indeed I wish Roper and co. especially Micah w/ his crazy beard would get back together :(. Many amazing days spent listening to them and going to concerts.
